Bone Densitometry (DEXA)

Availabile in the hospital's South Pavilion, bone densitometry, sometimes called DEXA (dual energy X-ray absorptiometry), is the test for evaluation of osteoporosis. It is a low-dose dose X-ray that checks for signs of mineral loss and bone thinning. It is a simple, painless test that takes about 20 minutes. You will be asked to lie on the examination table with your arms by your side. You should dress comfortably – don't wear clothes with metal buttons or zippers.
