Adult Speech Therapy Services

The Lawrence General Hospital Speech-Language Pathology Department evaluates and treats speech issues in adults that can arise from an injury, illness or the normal aging process. Your provider may recommend speech-language therapy for symptoms like delayed speech and language, unintelligible speech or difficulty swallowing.

Conditions We Treat

Our experts can help you take back control from symptoms caused by:

  • Stroke
  • Degenerative neurological disease
  • Swallowing disorders
  • Neurological diseases (e.g. Parkinson’s disease)
  • Vocal nodules
  • Oral cancers

Your speech-language therapist will assess your language, cognitive and swallowing and speech skills to determine the best course of action. You’ll then work together on the appropriate treatment plan to best manage your speech, language and swallowing difficulties.

Outpatient speech-language therapy is provided at our regional center for rehabilitation services (located at 25 Marston St., Suite 106, Lawrence, MA, 01841 – just a quarter of a mile away from the main Lawrence General campus.) A physician's order is required for all treatment.
