Lawrence General Hospital Announces Significant Capital Expansion

February 23, 2014 - The Lawrence General Hospital Board of Trustees has unanimously approved a multi-year master facility plan. The $72 million dollar capital investment is the largest in the organization’s history.

The multi-year plan includes renovation, expansion, and modernization of the hospital’s campus to include a New Surgical Building, inpatient unit renovations and infrastructure upgrades.

The new 42,250 square foot surgical building will be constructed on the campus, near the Emergency Center, to include new preoperative and postoperative space and state of the art operating rooms.

25,600 sq ft of inpatient renovations will result in additional private patient rooms as well as added family support and waiting areas designed to further enhance patience experience and satisfaction during inpatient stays.

“This is exciting news for our patients and their families as well as physicians, nurses and staff. The new surgical building will keep patients closer to home by enabling our LGH surgeons to perform more complicated procedures locally. Our patients will also have additional private, modern patient rooms which will promote a healing environment.” states Dianne J. Anderson, President & Chief Executive Officer, Lawrence General Hospital. “We know this significant strategic investment will further enhance the quality of care provided to our patients. We will be well positioned to provide future health care needs of the communities we serve right here in the Merrimack Valley.”

“We are extremely proud of our long history in serving the Merrimack Valley region, and all we have accomplished recently, but we are even more excited about the hospital’s future,” says Matthew A. Caffrey, Esq., Chairman, Lawrence General Hospital Board of Trustees. “As one of the fastest growing hospitals in Massachusetts, we are thrilled to be building on our emerging role as an important medical center and resource for the region. We believe we are the preeminent regional health system our communities deserve.”

This announcement follows the recent news that LGH and Pentucket Medical are together developing the 30,000 square foot Andover Medical Center in Andover, scheduled to open later in 2014.
