Community Medical Associates (CMA) is an expanded patient and family-centered medical practice serving the Merrimack Valley and southern New Hampshire.  Our caregivers have extensive experience caring for families, from pediatrics to geriatrics, and everyone in between – health care you and your family can trust

Open Access Scheduling™, which means appointments are made on the day and time that works best for the patient, with same day and next day appointments available as well.  We also offer continuity of care, by coordinating your care at the hospital, in the event that you are ever admitted.

Community Medical Associates (CMA) is affiliated with Lawrence General Hospital, so our patients now have access to specialists from both Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center.  Together, we provide you and your family with the expert care you deserve.

Our Providers

Sowmya Boora, MD, is a primary care physician practicing at the Andover-North Andover YMCA. A graduate of the Kakatiya Medical College in Warangal, India, Dr. Boora completed a residency in internal medicine at St. Barnabas Hospital in New York. Board-certified in internal medicine, she was previously a hospitalist at Lawrence General Hospital before transitioning to primary care. Dr. Boora speaks English and Hindi; her clinical interests include women’s health, geriatrics, asthma, and COPD.  Dr. Boora is currently accepting new patients!

Fabiola M. Feitosa Ruivo, MD, is a primary care physician practicing at Community Medical Associates in Lawrence, MA. She has completed her internal medicine residency at Cook County Hospital (John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital) in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Ruivo speaks fluent Portuguese, English, Spanish and Turkish at intermediate level. She is a strong advocate for health promotion and disease prevention. She is board certified in internal medicine and has transitioned from hospitalist to primary care. Areas of interest include hematology-oncology, endocrinology and gastroenterology.

Torkom Garabedian, MD, Torkom Garabedian, MD, practices internal medicine in Lawrence at the Marston Medical Center. He completed a three-year residency at Saint Elizabeth’s Medical Center in Brighton, Massachusetts. Dr. Garabedian speaks fluent Armenian, English and French, and speaks Arabic at an intermediate level. Building relationships with his patients to educate them about their health and empower their decision-making is an important aspect of his practice. Dr. Garabedian is currently taking new patients.

Dan Hale, MD, is a pediatrician now seeing pediatric patients at Community Medical Associates in Lawrence, MA. Dr. Hale also serves as a pediatrician at the Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA, and Lawrence General Hospital in Lawrence, MA. In additional to direct patient care, he has an interest in community outreach. Past community education projects include CPR education, swimming safety, heat illness prevention, bicycle helmet safety, fire safety and safe sleep habits in young infants. He is part of expanding local education and care for pregnant women with opioid use disorder and their babies.

Margaret Nelson, FNP-BC, DNP, has been a nurse for 42 years and a nurse practitioner for 24 years. She graduated from Massachusetts General Hospital for her diploma in nursing, University of Massachusetts-Boston for her bachelor's degree, University of Pennsylvania for her master's degree and she has a clinical doctorate in nursing (DNP) from University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Margaret has extensive experience in community health and has worked with immigrant, impoverished, vulnerable people and she enjoys taking care of the entire family, no matter what the age.

Kathleen Devejian, FNP-C, has been a member of the Lawrence General family for many years, working in the hospital’s Emergency Center, ICU, and Cardiac Care Unit, among other departments. She will now apply her considerable knowledge and expertise to the primary care setting.
