NiSource Charitable Foundation Grant to Support Emergency Management Services Training

Lawrence, MA-- The NiSource Charitable Foundation recently awarded Lawrence General Hospital with a $17,500 grant to help fund the hospital’s Emergency Management Services training and education efforts. The grant will be used specifically for training related to preventing and deescalating workplace violence for all employees, as well as driving incidence training for Lawrence General EMT’s and paramedics. In coordination with Lawrence General’s Workplace Violence Prevention Committee, Lawrence General’s security team has already begun monthly personal security training for employees called “AVADE” an acronym for Awareness-Vigilance-Avoidance-Defense-Escape.

“Workplace violence prevention and overall safety are top priorities at Lawrence General,” commented Kelly MacLean Clark, chief development officer at the hospital. “This Pre-Hospital EMS Training and Education Grant from the NiSource Charitable Foundation helps pay for the cost of our series of AVADE workplace violence prevention and de-escalation trainings to all employees, and for that we are grateful.”

The NiSource Charitable Foundation’smission is to help create strong and sustainable communities where NiSource employees live and work. The Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Columbia Gas’ parent company, NiSource, and works in close collaboration with NiSource employees and community partners to provide funding and encourage volunteer support for non-profit organizations in areas including safety, economic and workforce development, environmental stewardship, education, as well as basic needs and hardship assistance.
