Lawrence General President and CEO Honored

On March 17, Lawrence General president and CEO Dianne J. Anderson, RN, MS, was honored by the New York Organization of Nursing Executives and Leaders at the organization’s 25th anniversary gala celebration.

At the event, Anderson was named a recipient of the Heritage Award, which recognizes past presidents of the organization, and the National Affiliation Award, which recognizes individuals who have advanced the organization’s efforts on a national level. Anderson has a long history of advocacy for hospitals and healthcare in Washington, including her election as president of the American Organization of Nurse Executives.

Anderson served as president of the New York Organization of Nursing Executives and Leaders in 2001, when she was employed as vice president of Patient Care and Operations at Glens Falls Hospital in New York.

“It’s so gratifying to be recognized for something I do because of my passion for the profession,” says Anderson. “I’m proud of my nursing roots, and I’ve always done my best to be sure the nursing voice is present and strong in health care leadership.”

The New York Organization of Nursing Executives and Leaders is an all-volunteer, membership organization. The president and other officers are elected, most often while holding demanding, full time positions in other healthcare organizations. The president serves as the chief executive officer and spokesperson for the organization at the state and national levels, and presides over all membership and board of director meetings.
Anderson was appointed president and chief executive officer of Lawrence General Hospital in 2009. A pediatric nurse, her career in health care includes three years international experience spent building and opening Health Care International Medical Centre in Scotland; a Harvard-affiliated hospital. Her tenure also includes positions held at Floating Hospital for Children, Children’s Hospital, Glens Falls Hospital in New York, and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where she served as vice president of Clinical Operations prior to her appointment at Lawrence General Hospital.
