Lawrence General President and CEO Dianne Anderson Named to BBJ’s “Power 50” List

LAWRENCE, MA— Lawrence General President and CEO Dianne Anderson, RN, has been named one of the region’s 50 most influential people by the Boston Business Journal. The annual “Power 50” list published earlier this month recognizes individuals from multiple industries and professions who are making a difference in their business communities, blazing trails, and leaving a mark on the local economy.

Anderson and other winners will be honored during an event at Top of the Hub on November 14, 2018. A special publication highlighting the honorees will also be distributed in a future print edition of the Boston Business Journal.

Anderson was selected to the “Power 50” list for her headline-making leadership on issues of access and the cost of health care in Massachusetts and the nation. Her advocacy for the availability of high quality, high value health care services to all residents of the Merrimack Valley and her steadfast leadership in a time of constant change and challenge in the health care industry is noteworthy. Her contributions to Lawrence General, and consequently to the region, have helped trigger growth and garnered heightened attention for the Merrimack Valley and beyond.

“It’s exciting to see Dianne recognized among the “Power 50” as an influential leader. The honor is well deserved and acknowledges not only her personal contributions and leadership in community service, but also the commitment and professionalism of Lawrence General Hospital,” says Debra Rahmin Silberstein, Esq., chair of the Lawrence General Hospital Board of Trustees. “Thanks to Dianne and the team she leads, we are innovating and getting great results!”

“It is a great honor to be named among the “Power 50” and recognized alongside those who are making such a big mark on the region’s economy,” says Anderson. “Massachusetts is a national leader in health care, and I’m thrilled to be acknowledged for my work both at Lawrence General and my efforts on Beacon Hill to raise awareness about the important role that lower cost community providers play in stabilizing both access and the cost of health care.”

Appointed president and chief executive officer of Lawrence General Hospital in 2009, Anderson has led the organization through many significant changes and improvements. Her unshakable vision has produced creative, local provider partnerships at Lawrence General, as well as relationships with several Boston-based programs. The result is a broader array of locally available health care, for a traditionally underserved region.

In the spring of 2018, Lawrence General, partnering with Greater Lawrence Family Health Center and Neighborhood Health Plan, became one of only 17 state-approved Medicaid Accountable Care Organizations in Massachusetts. The program, named My Care Family, aims to provide high value care with a strong emphasis on prevention and chronic disease management to keep people healthier in the long run.

Under Anderson’s leadership, Lawrence General crowned a five-year master facility plan with the opening of the Santagati Center for surgery in 2017, a full surgical services replacement project bringing vast new capabilities to the region. The project supported her vision that more care should be delivered closer to home.

The hospital has also expanded its outpatient footprint, opening offsite locations totaling almost 100,000 square feet of new primary care, outpatient diagnostics and treatment at the Andover Medical Center, the Andover/North Andover YMCA, and Methuen Medical Center, among a growing list of new sites.
