Andrea Sullivan to Lead New Accountable Care Organization Serving the Merrimack Valley Region

Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (GLFHC) and Lawrence General Hospital announced today that Andrea Sullivan of Londonderry, New Hampshire has been named Chief Executive Officer of the Merrimack Valley Accountable Care Organization (MVACO). The new Accountable Care Organization (ACO) entered an exclusive agreement with managed care partner Neighborhood Health Plan to launch the Merrimack Valley Health Partnership, known as My Care Family to its MassHealth members in the region.

My Care Family will provide high-quality, comprehensive and coordinated health care to MassHealth patients in the Greater Lawrence area, where many residents face financial and social challenges to accessing care and staying healthy. The new entity unites the resources and expertise of three health care leaders with decades of experience co-managing patients in the region and harnessing existing community resources to meet the distinctive medical and behavioral health needs of the community.

Andrea Sullivan was formerly Chief Operating Officer of the MVACO following a year of leading its development for Lawrence General Hospital. Prior to this role she served as a senior leader in the hospital's transformation division, as Senior Director of Managed Care and Executive Director of the Choice Plus PHO. Ms. Sullivan has deep experience leading health care initiatives for Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial populations, in collaboration with community physicians. She holds a B.A. in Biochemistry from Bowdoin College and an MBA in Healthcare Management from Boston University.

Anderson, RN, President and CEO at Lawrence General Hospital, added, "Andrea has been closely involved with leading My Care Family through the months of development, and brings to her new role a wealth of knowledge of the workings of physician practice management, insurance plan structure, healthcare administration and population health. She has worked at Lawrence General Hospital in a variety of roles for 20 years, most recently as the senior director of Managed Care and the Physician-Hospital Organization and chief operating officer of My Care Family."

Andrea has been closely involved with all aspects of this new program for our MassHealth members as the COO. This experience along with her many years at Lawrence General Hospital, will allow her to seamlessly continue her great work in helping to lead the development of this new initiative. “

Andrea is well-qualified to lead the organization and further advance the quality of care in the region.”

Individual MassHealth members will be cared for by My Care Family interdisciplinary teams consisting of nurses, doctors, behavioral health professionals, social service providers, and others impacting community health.These team members will work together to ensure that total health needs are met in a member-centric way that connects patients with resources in their community and promotes effective communication among care providers.
