Thank You, Donors!

September 14, 2020

Donors from near and far—from Tewksbury to Texas—answered the call, raising more than $1 million for Lawrence General Hospital’s COVID-19 response.

From enhanced personal protective equipment for front-line health care workers and respiratory therapy supplies for patients to increased telehealth and hospital beds, the costs incurred to battle COVID-19 pose a tremendous financial challenge for this community hospital. Donors of all kinds—caring individuals, high school sports teams, community groups, corporations, and foundations—joined together to preserve the future of Lawrence General.

By the numbers: 163 new donors joined existing loyal donors to help meet increased needs during the hospital’s patient surge in March, April, and May of this year. What’s more, many loyal donors increased their giving or made second gifts for 2020—even during this time of financial uncertainty. In all, nearly 400 in-kind donors put the “community” in our community hospital with their generous giving. One donor said she gave to Lawrence General for her family’s future. “The hospital is a lifeline, now more than ever. When Lawrence General thrives, this place we call home thrives.”

The hospital’s critical needs in response to COVID-19 and its after-effects continue. “We’re not out of the woods yet,” cautions Lawrence General Hospital senior vice president of operations/chief nursing officer, Karen Moore, RN, MS, FACHE. “But with the help of our community, we will marshal the resources we need to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and future needs.”

Every donation aids the hospital in preparing for a potential second wave while working to resume normal operations to keep our community safe and healthy. Every donor and every dollar counts. Thank you, to all who support Lawrence General’s mission of care.
