Expansion of COVID-19 Vaccination Efforts With New Mobile Vaccine Clinic

March 18, 2021
Mayor Kendrys Vasquez and Deborah J. Wilson, President and CEO of Lawrence General Hospital are announcing a new mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinic. Powered by the team at Lawrence General, the new mobile health unit is hitting the road in Lawrence this week to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to up to 100 eligible Lawrence residents per day at locations throughout Lawrence. The city of Lawrence remains one of the hardest hit by the pandemic and this expanded partnership will help the Lawrence General vaccine team vaccinate some of the city’s most vulnerable populations in the neighborhoods where they live and work.

“Health equity is at the forefront of our vaccination strategy,” says Deborah J. Wilson, president and CEO of Lawrence General Hospital. “This mobile health unit, powered by the Lawrence General team, will enable us to reach people who may not otherwise be able to visit a vaccination clinic site due to limited mobility or transportation.”

The hospital is working in partnership with the City of Lawrence to identify daily mobile vaccine locations and let people know when the mobile vaccination clinic will be in their neighborhood. The new mobile vaccination unit represents an expanded partnership with the city of Lawrence and Lawrence General Hospital which manages the vaccination clinic at the city’s South Lawrence East Elementary School. To date, the hospital has administered about 42,000 covid-19 vaccines to people living in the Merrimack Valley.
