Inpatient Rehabilitation Services

Inpatient rehabilitation services are provided during your inpatient hospital stay and include: physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language therapy.Physicians may order rehab services for their patients during their stay in the hospital when indicated to improve functional mobility and independence for your return home. Our therapists will ensure you have all the equipment and resources necessary to ensure a smooth transition.

Inpatient Physical Therapy

Inpatient physical therapy services are typically provided at bedside. We work with you to maximum your functional mobility and safety during your hospital stay. We make recommendations regarding your discharge from Lawrence General, and work closely with a multidisciplinary team - including, but not limited to physicians, nurses, and case managers - to facilitate a seamless transition home or with additional services if necessary.

Inpatient Occupational Therapy

Inpatient occupational therapy services are typically provided at bedside. We work with you to maximum your activities of daily living and safety during your hospital stay. We make recommendations regarding your discharge from Lawrence General, and work closely with a multidisciplinary team - including, but not limited to physicians, nurses, and case managers - to facilitate a seamless transition home with additional services if necessary.

Inpatient Speech-Language Therapy

Inpatients may receive speech, language, cognitive and/or swallowing therapy during their stay in the hospital, typically at bedside. Speech-language therapy will be ordered by your physician during your hospital stay if necessary to evaluate and treat communication, cognitive and swallowing disorders.

In the Special Care Nursery, our Speech-Language Pathologists collaborate with Lawrence General Hospital’s neonatologists, as well as Floating Hospital for Children’s pediatric specialists, to support infants feeding/swallowing skills and educate parents on how to support their infants once discharged home. Our licensed speech-language pathologists have experience working with patients across the lifespan.

We will recommend further speech-language services upon discharge as needed.
