Do You Know the New Emergency Codes?

May 1, 2016 - Lawrence General Hospital is working to improve patient and employee safety by using standardized emergency codes. Effective May 1, 2016, Lawrence General Hospital will be utilizing the revised Emergency Codes show on the badge card below.

These new standardized codes will simplify emergency response from physicians and staff who may work in multiple hospitals.

There is also a new procedure in place for alerting staff of emergencies. Prior to an announcement of an emergency code, an alert tone will now be heard via the overhead paging system. This tone will signify that an urgent message will be announced.

Please note that as of May 1, an alert tone WILL NOT be used for Code Red announcements as the fire system already includes audio and visual alarms.

Security has new emergency cards like the one to the left ready to distribute to all staff. Please contact Security at ext. 2200 to let them know if your team needs these new cards.

If you have any comments or questions regarding these new emergency codes, please contact Security at ext. 2200.
