Matthew A. Caffrey, Esq. Named LGH Board Chairman
Lawrence General Hospital is pleased to announce Matthew A. Caffrey, Esq., as its new Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Mr. Caffrey assumed the Chair position on December 10, 2013, succeeding Richard J. Santagati, Chairman Emeritus, who has been a member of the Board of Trustees for 25 years, and Chairman since 2006. Matthew Caffrey, a graduate of Phillips Andover Academy, Middlebury College, and the University of Pennsylvania Law School, has been a member of the Lawrence General Hospital Board of Trustees since 2007. A trial attorney, Mr. Caffrey has a three-lawyer firm located in Andover. Prior to establishing his local practice in 1994, Mr. Caffrey was an associate of the Boston firm of Mintz, Levin Cohn, Ferris, Glovsky & Popeo, P.C., in its Litigation and Environmental sections. He is a past president of the Lawrence Bar Association and has served as a board member of several Lawrence non-profit organizations, including MI Nursing and HealthCare Services, Inc. and Berkeley Retirement Home, Inc. "I am thrilled to be working with this incredibly dedicated and talented Board, as well as the leadership team at Lawrence General. I am not surprised that LGH is now one of the fastest growing hospitals in Massachusetts, and our plans for the hospital's future are very exciting indeed.” Mr. Caffrey resides in Andover with his wife Liana and three daughters, Michela, Natalie, and Sophia.
Lawrence General Hospital welcomes two new members to its Board of Trustees as well.
Jonathan G. Isaacson is the President & CEO of The Gem Group, a privately held supplier of bags, business accessories and gifts. The Gem Group is headquartered in Lawrence, Massachusetts, employs over 400 people, and is a multiple award winning company, selling products under its own brand name as well as those of brands such as Brookstone, Igloo, Moleskin, Zebra and Lamy. Isaacson serves on the Board of the Young Presidents’ Organization of the New England as Chapter Chair, the Board of the Quality Certification Alliance, the Board of Overseers for the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, and is a member of the PPAI Product Responsibility Action Group. In 2008, Isaacson was named The Counselor Magazine’s International Person of the Year, and has been on The Counselor Power 50 list since its inception.
Also joining the Lawrence General Hospital Board is Christopher H. Colecchi, Managing Director of Broadview Ventures, the philanthropic venture investing arm of the Paris-based Leducq Family Trust, whose mission is to accelerate the development of cures for cardiovascular diseases. Responsible for leading a team that assesses potential investments, developing the investment terms and providing guidance to portfolio companies, Chris has significant experience in healthcare, promoting strategic alliances and technological innovation designed to improve patient care. He is a current Board Member of both the Harvard Clinical Research Institute and the Massachusetts Association for Mental Health. He serves on the Board of the Institute for Cardiovascular Research and Science, and is a member of the Investment Committee for the Partners HealthCare Innovation Fund.
