Floating Hospital for Children at Tufts Medical Center & Lawrence General Hospital

Lawrence, Mass. (Sept. 30, 2013) – Sharing a passion for treating children and for delivering high quality care, Lawrence General Hospital and Floating Hospital for Children have expanded pediatric specialty services available in the Merrimack Valley by opening a new Pediatric Specialty Center.  The Pediatric Specialty Center is located in the Marston Medical Building, 25 Marston Street in Lawrence, just minutes off Exit 45 on I-495 North/South.  The Marston Medical Building offers on-site parking with easy access to the Specialty Center from all parking levels.

At just over 2,500 square feet of space, this new Pediatric Specialty Center features six exam rooms, and puts top pediatric specialists and surgeons from Floating Hospital for Children at in Lawrence, including pediatric cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, general surgery, nephrology, neurology, pulmonology, and rheumatology.

“The Floating Hospital for Children is thrilled with this terrific new facility in partnership with Lawrence General Hospital that will allow us to provide pediatric specialty care directly to parents and practices in the Lawrence and surrounding communities,” said John Schreiber, MD, MPH, Pediatrician-in-Chief and Chief Administrative Officer of Floating Hospital for Children.

“As a mom and a former pediatric nurse, I’m pleased to see this relationship grow into the robust clinical program that it has become today. It truly speaks to the level of commitment both organizations have toward improving access to the absolute best pediatric care available in this region, and to keeping Merrimack Valley families closer to home,” said Dianne J. Anderson, President and CEO of Lawrence General Hospital.

Since 1997, neonatologists from Floating Hospital, experts in the care of newborns, have managed the Level II Special Care Nursery at Lawrence General. Tufts Medical Center also operates a Maternal Fetal Medicine Program offering genetic counseling and care for women whose pregnancies are determined to be at high risk.  In 2010, the pediatric hospitalist program was introduced at Lawrence General giving families access to 24/7 inpatient pediatric care from board-certified pediatric hospitalists from Floating Hospital for Children. These physicians specialize in the care of children admitted to Lawrence General Hospital and work in concert with a child’s local pediatrician to coordinate hospital care.
